KATHMANDU, Dec 30: Dr Bhim Rawal, who was expelled from the CPN-UML recently, will hold a press conference on Wednesday to announce his plans for a new political party. Rawal's associate, Govinda Duwal, confirmed that Rawal will express his views and share details about his future plans at the press conference.
Sources close to Rawal have revealed that the press conference will take place at 1 pm on Wednesday at Karki Banquet in Kathmandu.
"After the UML's action, Rawal has been discussing internally the possibility of forming a new party," Duwal said. "The press conference is tentatively set for Wednesday, during which he will announce his decision and provide details about his future plans. Whether he will form a new party will be revealed at that time."
On December 25, UML removed Rawal from the party's organized membership. Since then, Rawal has been intensifying his political meetings while preparing to form a new party.
Rawal, who had been active in the UML for nearly five decades, lost his membership after a Secretariat meeting on Wednesday. Rawal had previously competed with KP Sharma Oli for the party chairmanship during the 10th General Convention in Chitwan in 2022 but became increasingly inactive within the party afterward.
On Monday morning, Rawal met with Nepali Congress (BP) Vice President Karan Malla and Dr Tara Joshi, an independent member of the Sudurpaschim Province Assembly.
