Aircraft moved to runway, TIA likely to resume from afternoon

KATHMANDU, March 7:The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has claimed that the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), closed since three days following mishap of the Turkish Airlines´ aircraft, will resume operation from Saturday afternoon.

Manager Purna Prasad Chudal at TIA informed that the aircraft has been successfully moved to the runway.“Now the aircraft will be towed to the parking following inspection by a team of expert,” said Manager Purna Prasad Chudal at TIA, “It could take one and a half hour to complete the task.”

Currently, there are no aircraft for international flights from the TIA.

“It is likely that aircraft will be given permission to land from around 12 pm this afternoon,” Chudal said. The nearest international route from Kathmandu is New Delhi and it takes around 1 hour and 25 minutes for an aircraft to arrive from the Indian capital city.
