Ailing Oli airlifted to Delhi

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Ailing CPN UML leader KP Sharma Oli has been airlifted to New Delhi, India, via an air ambulance for further treatment on Sunday afternoon.

Oli was taken to the Tribhuvan International Airport straight from Norvic Hospital, Thapathali, where he was receiving treatment. He will be admitted at the Medanta Medicity hospital in New Delhi. [break]

Senior party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and other party leaders and workers were present at the airport to see him off. He is accompanied also by his wife Radhika.

On Friday, the influential UML leader was admitted to the Norvic Hospital after he complained of chest infection. He was to be taken to India on Saturday. However, the schedule was cancelled after air ambulance could not come to pick him.

Oli fell ill during his recent to the US and was admitted to a New York-based hospital. He arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

The UML leader had undergone kidney transplant a few years ago and has been regularly visiting Apollo Hospital in New Delhi for medication.
