KATHMANDU, March 11: UCPN (Maoist) senior leader Baburam Bhattarai on Wednesday remarked that parties would not face trouble to forge agreement if they are committed.

Talking to journalists this morning, leader Bhattarai shared his two formulas for an accord.

“Parties should proceed following earlier agreements and commitment to promulgate the new statute on coming Republic Day,” he said. He was of the opinion that consensus is possible if parties express commitments to that end.

He added that there is difference between mandates of revolution and election.

“New statute was drafted in USA, India and South Africa through mandate of revolution not that of polls,” the Maoist leader said.

On federalism, the former prime minister said that it could be resolved through the report of the State Restructuring Commission. Saying that the repot clearly mentions federalism, Bhattarai expressed his belief that dispute on the federal system will no longer exists if the parties oblige to the report.

Bhattarai said that the opposition alliance didn’t announce fresh protests due to request of the president and recent appeal of the prime minister for talks.

“We will wait till March 5 and will announce protest if a conducive environment for talks is not created,” he said.

On a separate he claimed that there are no differences with the 30-party alliance.
