2,299 booked for traffic violations, generating Rs 2.18 million in fines

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, fines were issued to 95 drivers for drunk driving, 99 for illegal ride-sharing, 129 for signal violations, and 147 for speeding.

KATHMANDU, June 16: Traffic police in the Kathmandu Valley took action against 2,299 motorists for violating traffic rules in the past 24 hours, generating Rs 2.18 million in revenue.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, fines were issued to 95 drivers for drunk driving, 99 for illegal ride-sharing, 129 for signal violations, and 147 for speeding.


Similarly, 108 motorists were penalised for not maintaining lane discipline, 115 for honking in prohibited areas, 87 for parking on sidewalks, 98 for driving on one-way roads, and 1,421 for other traffic violations, said Traffic Police spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi.
