KATHMANDU, July 10: Government accounts across the country have been frozen. The Financial Comptroller General Office has frozen the accounts of the federal, provincial and local governments since 12 o'clock last night.
Gayatri Raman Khanal, information officer of the Financial Comptroller General Office, said that according to the notification issued by the Comptroller General’s Office on June 25, the transactions of the provincial and local governments for this fiscal year have been closed since 12:00 AM last night. According to him, no payment can be taken from last night and no new amount will be paid from the provincial and local level system for a week.

Cheques issued by showing expenditure in the system till 12 midnight can be exchanged today. However, information Officer Khanal said that according to the law, new cheques cannot be issued from Monday.
Rule 30 of the Fiscal Procedures and Financial Accountability Act 2077 stipulates that payment withdrawals must be stopped one week before the end of the fiscal year.
