KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The Election Commission has instructed the political parties and candidates participating in the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies elections held on November 20 to submit the details of the election expenses within 35 days of the announcement of the results.
Candidates who have submitted their nomination papers for the first-past-the-post electoral system as per Subsection 940 of Section 72 of the House of Representatives Election Act has to submit the details of election expenses to the concerned province and district election offices in accordance with Schedule 940 of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly Election Guidelines, 2079.

When submitting the details, the amount within the limit fixed by the EC should be submitted under separate headings such as purchase, vehicles, publicity materials, transportation cost, conference interaction, other publicity cost, print and electronic media including social media, office operation cost and mobilization cost among others. The details of the bank account used by the candidate for election expenditure and the name of the official responsible for the expenditure must also be submitted.
The details of the expenses incurred during the election campaign should be submitted by the candidate themselves or through his/her representative to the election office within 35 days from the date of completion of voting, reads the directive issued by the EC.
The political parties that have submitted a closed list for the proportional election system must submit the details of expenses to the EC in accordance with Schedule 34 of the House of Representatives Member Proportional Election Guidelines, 2079BS and the Provincial Assembly Member Proportional Election Guidelines, 2079 BS within 35 days of the announcement of the election results.
When submitting the statements, if the party has used a helicopter, it should also be mentioned in the details and the bank account used by the party and the name of the officer responsible for the expenditure must also be included.
