KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) Project Implementation Directorate is constructing a 796 km distribution network in the second phase for water distribution in Melamchi.
Chandrakumar Paa Shrestha, the spokesperson for the directorate, said that out of the 796 km distribution network under construction in Baluwatar, Swayambhu, Mandikhatar and Kapan areas, 427 km has been completed. He said that the rest of the work will be completed by the end of the current fiscal year.
For Sustainable Supply of Melamchi Water to Valley
Four manufacturing companies are working in the distribution network. According to the Directorate, Sharma/Rama JV is working in Swayambhu area, Dhoom/Teams/Kumar/CAV/Cab JV in Baluwatar area.
Likewise, Tundi Construction is working on building a distribution network in Mandikhatar area. Lipel/Sailung JV is working in the Kapan area. The second phase of the 796 km distribution network is being worked on at a total cost of Rs 7 billion 360 million 384 thousand.
The directorate has already built a distribution network of 1000 km in the first phase. Out of that, a 532 km distribution network of Melamchi has been tested. Water testing is also being carried out in the rest of the areas constructed in the first phase.
