BMF cadres torch newspaper copies

LAHAN, May 24 : Cadres of the Broader Madhesi Front (BMF) burnt copies of newspapers being transported for distribution here this morning.



The Front cadres burnt the newspaper copies of the Kantipur and Annapurna Post national vernacular dailies, venting their anger for not covering news related to their protest programme, it is stated.



Protesters stopped vans carrying these newspapers for distribution at Lahan and burnt copies of Kantipur, The Kathmandu Post, Annapurna Post and The Himalayan Times, Surendra Shrestha, who saw the incident, said. The newspapers were brought from Biratnagar.



They burnt some 12,000 copies of the newspapers that were being taken for distribution in Golbazaar and Mirchaiya of Siraha district and Godar, Dharapani, Dhalkebar and Janakpur in Dhanusha and Bardibas in Mahottari district, said the driver of a van transporting the newspapers.
