KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The government is gearing up to introduce new guidelines that will restrict individuals to collecting Yarsagumba only once a year.

KHALANGA, May 16: Three persons, who were injured in an incident of lightning while collecting the valuable alpine herb, Yarsagumba, in Darchula, have been rescued after four days on Tuesday.

JAJARKOT, April 30: Collection of the Yarsagumba or the caterpillar fungus in the Dolpa district will be opened to the public for a month beginning May 15.

MANANG, April 26: Residents of Manang district have ascended toward the highlands to collect Yarsagumba (Ophiocordyceps  sinensis) with the beginning of the Yarsa picking season.

People from the district as well as outside have reached the highlands of Mugumkarmarong Rural Municipality of Mugu to collect the prized fungus which is found in abundance in the district.

In fact, majority of the youths in the Karnali region are doing the same. Lack of employment opportunities has attracted many people here into the lucrative yarsagumba trade.
