KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Stocks witnessed one of the best trading days in the last couple of months on Thursday. Stocks maintained positive bias throughout the trading session with the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index trading around 10 points higher in the beginning hour. The index plateaued at mid-day but considerable strength in the latter hours pushed the index 30.78points higher to close at 1,572.18.

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index hovered slightly in green in the opening hours after Tuesday’s trading session. However, extended profit booking pulled the index sharply lower in the afternoon where the index fell as much as 10 points. The index found some footing in the latter hours recouping some of the earlier losses but closed in the red nonetheless. Nepse fell 4.47 points at the session’s close to end at 1,536.04 points.

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: On Sunday, the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index traded for only a few minutes in the beginning trading hour. Thereafter the market halted its trading till mid-day due to some technical difficulties. However, after the resumption, the index managed to sustain its positive momentum towards the end of the session.  In the end, the market closed the day at 1537.25 points-up 16.56 points against the session earlier.

Later on the market resumed its trading and continued to maintain a positive stance in the latter trading hours. At the close, Nepse registered a gain of 12.49 points to settle at 1,520.69 points.

Stocks staged a rebound a couple of times in the afternoon but could not trade above the opening level. After struggling in the final hour, stocks finally ended firmly lower. Consequently, Nepse finished Monday’ session 12.17 points lower at 1,487.81.

KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Stocks opened firmly higher on Sunday, as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index traded more than 40 points higher in the pre-opening session. However, the index quickly gave up its gains to trade flat at mid-day. Furthermore, the local bourse saw sustained selling pressure in the afternoon pushing the index in the red towards the closing hours. Eventually, the benchmark ended Sunday’s trading at 1,499.97 – down 10.45 points against prior close.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: The local bourse experienced another active week with both the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index and volumes shooting up towards multi-year record levels. The index began the week on a slightly upbeat note with a gain of 4.63 points on Sunday. Monday saw the bourse add another 22.32 points. While the market remained closed on Tuesday, stocks resumed trading with considerable strength on Wednesday with a 25.58 points gain. Stocks took a breather in the last session of the week and ended almost flat on Thursday. Overall, the index gathered 52 points or 3.59 % to close the week at 1,510.42.

KATHMANDU, Sept 4: After opening around 15 points higher in the morning on Thursday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index pulled back sharply to trade below 1,500’s level within the first hour. However, stocks recouped the morning losses and swung between gains and losses  in the afternoon to finally end the day on a flat note. At the close, Nepse stood at 1,510.42 – down a modest 0.15 points compared to Wednesday’s session.

A correction followed bringing the index back towards the 1,500 points level at mid-day. However, stocks continued to gain strength in the afternoon as the market rose to 1,520 point’s level. A slight dip at the end saw the benchmark close at 1,510.57 – up 25.58 points against prior close.

Stocks saw further strength after mid-day and witnessed a steady climb with Nepse trading over 30 points higher in the afternoon. Following a brief correction at the close, the major average ended the day at 1,484.99 – up 22.31 points against the session earlier.

KATHMANDU, Aug 30: Stocks opened in red on Sunday with the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shedding around 14 points in the morning. Thereafter, technical error in the trading system kept investors making any further transactions in the exchange for most of the afternoon. Finally, trading hours were extended for the day with Nepse adding 2 hours of trading from 3.15 pm. In the final two hours, buyers prevailed, helping Nepse erase its earlier losses to close with a gain of 4.64 points at 1,462.67.

Thereafter, the index gyrated along the opening level throughout the afternoon, finally closing the day with a modest loss of 4 points at 1,458.04.

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Following a four-day rally in the local stock market, stocks continue to see notable strength with the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index adding another 21.1 points on Wednesday. Strength was seen since the beginning of the day’s session as Nepse hovered in green for most of the early trading hours. Further, a rally ensued after mid-session driving the benchmark around 30 points higher at 1,470 in the afternoon. A pullback finally saw the index end session at 1,462.04 points.

After a brief dip towards red at mid-day, the benchmark maintained positive bias throughout the latter trading hours. KATHMANDU, Aug 22: The local bourse opened the review period on a weak note as the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell over 17 points on Sunday. Nonetheless, Nepse erased early-week losses mid-week with Monday and Tuesday witnessing gains of 10.75 points and 5.68 points, respectively. While the index pulled back another 16.6 points on Wednesday, the last trading day of the week saw the index make a modest recovery. Nepse added 6.28 points on Thursday. Overall, the index ended the week 11.22 points or 0.8 percent lower at 1,397.57 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Stocks traded flat in the first half an hour of trading on Thursday. The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index hovered around 1,390 points in the morning before rallying sharply above 1,400 points at mid-session. The second half, nonetheless, saw the index trim some of its earlier gains to close the day with a modest gain of 6.28 points at 1,397.57 points.

However, the latter trading hours saw the index make a steady recovery to hover flat in the afternoon. A last hour surge finally helped the index register a gain of 10.75 points to close at 1,402.21 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: A sharp fall in the morning saw the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index sink over 27 points in the first few minutes of Sunday’s trading session. Some volatility ensued thereafter as the benchmark partially recouped earlier losses within the first half an hour of trading. The Nepse index hovered in the red after mid-day finally settling below the 1,400-point mark at 1,391.46 points. The day’s loss tally was recorded as 17.33 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: The stock market opened the week on a firmly upbeat note with the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) benchmark index adding 11.3 points on Sunday, followed by a gain of 37.73 points on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 14: After witnessing a steep drop in the morning, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index traded over 10 points lower at mid-day. The local bourse tried to recoup earlier losses in the afternoon, but lost its footing further towards late afternoon. At the close, Nepse closed at 1,408.79 points – down by 16.53 points against the session earlier.

However, with investors taking major buying positions around that level, the index staged a recovery to climb above the opening level at mid-day. Following another pullback towards red, a last hour advance saw the index close the day fairly in green. Nepse ended Sunday’s trading 11.3 points higher at 1,392.68 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Despite some selling pressure seen early in the morning, buyers negated the sellers as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index closed almost unchanged at 1,381.38 points on Thursday. The benchmark index suffered a modest loss of 1.29 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: After seeing a month of upbeat trading as lockdown eased, the stock market made a significant recovery reaching as high as 1,560 points on intraday level in mid-July. Following some retracement from that point, the index accelerated losses on the first trading day of August as the rising coronavirus cases have stoked fear among investors. Hence, sellers remained in full control on Sunday’s trading.

KATHMANDU, July 31: The local stock market witnessed upbeat trading on the first trading day of the week. On Sunday, stocks closed firmly higher as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index added 1.56 percent. However, the buying pressure receded on Monday as the index pulled back a meager 0.18 percent. The exchange accelerated losses on Tuesday and Wednesday with declines of 0.52 percent and 1.61 percent, respectively, while Thursday was marked by a modest gain of 0.53 percent. Eventually, the index ended at 1,439.06 – down 3.55 points or 0.25 percent against the week earlier.

KATHMANDU, July 30: Thursday’s trading saw stocks open in green as the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) rose about 6 points in the morning. The index trimmed its early gains to trade in negative territory at mid-session. At the close, Nepse fell 14.99 points to end Tuesday’s trading at 1,449.94 points.

KATHMANDU, July 20: Despite opening the day almost 4 percent higher after pre-opening session, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) benchmark index failed to sustain the early gain towards the closing hours. The index hit the first upper circuit limit of 4 percent within a couple of minutes of trading, triggering a trading break of 20 minutes. After resumption of the trading, the index hit its subsequent upper limit of 5 percent and forced another trading halt.

KATHMANDU, July 11: The post-lockdown relaxation trading has seen fairly favorable movement as investors saw another week of bullish movement. Despite the previous week closing with a 6 percent rout, the market remained fairly stable this week with four days of advance and one day of correction. The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index saw a moderate gain and closed 9 points higher on Sunday. The following two sessions added to the gains as the index rose 33 points and 37 points on Monday and Tuesday. The index retraced 10 points on Wednesday, while Thursday was marked by a modest rise of 4 points. Overall, the index ended the review period 75 points or 4.23 percent higher at 1,331.10 points.
