KATHMANDU, Sept 15: After increased liquidity in the banks, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has decided to mop Rs 100 billion from banks and financial institutions (BFIs) today. At 3 PM today, the NRB will mop this amount from the BFIs through a bidding instrument.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15:  The price of gold has reached an all-time high in the domestic market. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Associations (FENEGOSIDA), the price of fine gold has increased by Rs 500 per tola, reaching Rs 156,800 per tola. This is the highest price of gold recorded so far.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Two months into the fiscal year 2024/25, 103 out of 753 local bodies have yet to present their budgets to their respective councils. According to the Intergovernmental Fiscal Arrangement Act 2017, the federal government must present its budget by May 28, provincial governments by June 15, and local bodies by June 25.

The latest retail inflation data from the National Statistical Office yet again highlights the challenge in achieving durable price stability. Provisional estimates for year-on-year price gains in August show the headline rate based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) quickened marginally to 3.65%, from July’s 3.60%, as a sharp rebound in vegetable inflation led to a wider acceleration in overall food price gains.
