In spite of security beef up in Biratnagar, enraged cadres vandalized some vehicles for defying their strike. The YF cadres submitted a memorandum to District Administration Office, demanding security.
Meanwhile, two armed groups active in the Tarai have owned up to the attack. The Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha (ATMM) led by Jay Krishna Goit and the Jantantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) led by Rajan Mukti claimed responsibility for the attack.
Two armed men riding a motorbike had shot at Basnet on Thursday evening at Janapath chowk of Biratnagar. One bullet was lodged in Basnet´s back while other one went through his leg. Khadka was immediately admitted to Nobel Medical College (NMC) where doctors took out bullets after a four-hour surgery.
Doctors said Basnet is out of danger. However, he has been put in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for more than 48 hours.
