Yeti Airlines support to four social organizations<br/>Sunrise bank introduces two new schemes

KATHMANDU, July 23: Yeti Airlines Thursday gave away checks for Rs 284,442 each to four different organizations for their contribution in supporting orphan children, assisting leprosy affected people, providing care to people with spinal injury and protecting women´s rights. [break]



The airline awarded Helpless Children Welfare Mission, Sewa Kendra Leprosy Relief, Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Center and Women for Human Rights as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). It had generated the fund by collecting Rs 4 from sales of each flight ticket.



Speaking at the check hand-over ceremony organized in Kathmandu, Vijay Bahadur Shrestha, executive director of Yeti Airlines, said: "The company has always believed in making contributions to the society and it has been involved in social welfare activities since its inception."



He also informed that Yeti Airlines was mulling over establishing Yeti Foundation in the near future to work in a more integrated manner in promoting social welfare issues.



Yeti Airlines, which has the largest fleet in the country, has also been fulfilling its CSR by flying to rural hinterlands, where no other airline companies have operated flights.





Sunrise bank introduces two new schemes



KATHMANDU, July 23: Sunrise Bank has launched two new schemes -- ´Sunrise Lakhapati Bachat´ and ´Sunrise Gold Loan´ for its customers on Thursday. Issuing a statement, the bank said it had also expanded the existing Sunrise Overdraft Saving Account (ODSA).



Sunrise Lakhapati Bachat, a saving scheme, is targeted towards general public and employees of small and medium enterprises. “This scheme gives opportunity to the customers to become Lakhapati (millionaire) by depositing small equal monthly deposits,” the release says. Under this scheme, customers need to deposit Rs 2,510 per month for three-year scheme, Rs 3900 for two-year scheme and Rs 8,070 for one-year scheme.



Similarly, under the ´Sunrise Gold Loan´ scheme, customers can take loan amount of minimum Rs 50,000 and maximum Rs 20 million against gold collateral at 10 percent interest. The bank has earned a operating profit of Rs 130 million during the fiscal year 2008/09.





NIC branches in Surkhet, Dhangadhi



KATHMANDU, July 23: NIC Bank has opened two new branches in Surkhet and Dhangadhi. The Surkhet branch was inaugurated by Jagdish Prasad Agrawal amidst a function held on Wednesday, states a press release issued by the company.



On the occasion, the bank also donated an ambulance to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, Surkhet. A week before, the bank had donated an ambulance to the people of Lahan. Currently, NIC Bank has a network of 20 branches from the east to the far-west.



The bank plans to add at least seven more branches this year, adds the release. The bank will also be installing 25 automated teller machines (ATMs) all over the country soon.
