The volume consists a dozen articles of 18 researchers about volunteerism in various sectors, including agriculture, education, culture, tourism, disaster risk reduction and politics, according to a press statement issued by the YAN.

While unveiling the journal via webinar, Prof. Abhi Subedi encouraged Nepali youths to be involved in volunteering activities rather than just racing for money. Prof. Bidhyanath Koirala and Dr. Uddhav Pyakurel commented on the journal.

Prof. Koirala said while talking about volunteerism, we should look into our own traditions and practices rather than the notion of volunteerism and its practices in the western world.

YAN Chair Naren Khatiwada and Shikha Shrestha of VSO Nepal shed light on how the volume took came into the final shape and acknowledged the sincere efforts of its editors, contributors and support staffs. Dr. Tara Lal Shrestha, Lekhanath Pandey, Shiva Tiwari and Prabin Shrestha were editors of the journal, who had also shared their experiences during the function.

According to Khatiwada, the digital version of the new volume will be freely available soon on YAN’s website, www.yan.org.np. The print version will be distributed once the coronavirus lockdown is eased, he added.
