Woman attempts to set herself on fire at Dhanusha District Court premises

Police said around 55-year-old Phulkumari Rajak of Janakpurdham-3 attempted to set herself on fire in front of the court’s main gate. A police team led by Inspector Arvind Sah intervened immediately and rescued her.

JANAKPURDHAM, Aug 12: A woman attempted to set herself on fire at the Dhanusha District Court premises in Janakpurdham on Wednesday morning while victims of loan-sharking were protesting outside the court.



Police said around 55-year-old Phulkumari Rajak of Janakpurdham-3 attempted to set herself on fire in front of the court’s main gate. A police team led by Inspector Arvind Sah intervened immediately and rescued her.

The incident occurred while a detention hearing was underway for alleged loan sharks Heraram Sah and Gopal Sah. Victims had gathered outside the court, demanding justice and action against those accused of exploiting them.


Following the incident, security has been tightened at the Dhanusha District Court premises.
