KATHMANDU, Dec 15: A woman has died while undergoing treatment in hospital. She was critically injured after setting herself on fire with petrol on the banks of the Bagmati River near Kirat Chowk in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-8.
According to police, Kamala Acharya, 38, hailing from Ratnanagar Municipality-12 in Chitwan and temporarily residing in Buddha Narayantar, Kathmandu, sprinkled petrol on her body and set herself on fire at around 12 pm on Saturday.

Acharya was seriously injured in the fire and was rushed to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu for treatment. However, she died this morning while undergoing treatment. Police said that the body will be handed over to the relatives after a postmortem.
The reason behind the woman’s act of setting herself on fire and the details about her family have not yet been revealed. Police said that an investigation is currently underway into the matter.
