KATHMANDU, March 23: A girl was critically injured after her boyfriend set her on fire after dousing her with kerosene at Kageshwari-Manohara Municipality -8 in Kathmandu district on Monday evening.
According to police, Suraj Shrestha from Dolakha also tried to set himself on fire after pouring kerosene on his 19-year-old girlfriend Puja Karki from Solukhumbu.

Critically injured Karki is undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in Kirtipur. She was beaten black and blue by Suraj before being set on fire, according to police. She has a serious head injury.
Confirming the incident, chief of the Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu, Ashok Singh said that they are both drug addicts. Karki has been residing at Buddha Chowk while Suraj at Jorpati, Kathmandu.
"Furth details regarding the incident are awaited since both the people involved in the incident are currently receiving treatment," SSP Singh added.
