WMMC, Sangam into super league

KATHMANDU/JHAPA, Nov 26: Workers Martyrs Memorial Club (WMMC) of Makwanpur and Sangam Yuva Club of Kaski on Friday qualified for the super league as the winner and runner up of group A during the Regional A Division Red Bull League being held at Hetauda, Makawanpur.



WMMC accumulated 10 and Sangam finished with nine points in the group B matches consisting of five teams held on the single round robin basis. [break]



Of the four matches played, WMMC won three and played draw in another. Similarly, Sangam won three and lost one match.



WMMC and Sangam will be joined by top two teams of group A in the super league to be played later. The winner and the runner up of Super League will get a chance to compete in the National League to be held from December 17. Group A matches are being held in Jhapa



In Friday´s match, WMMC played a 1-1 draw against Jaykisan Sports Club of Banke. WMMC came from behind to earn a hard fought draw against Jaykisan.



Hari Kathayat had give early two minute lead to Jaykisan but Mandip Singh Basnet hit back the equalizer in the 63rd minute to settle the match for a draw. Jaykisan finished third with seven points.



In another match, Sangam Yuva Club beat Sauvagya Yuva Club of Rupandehai 5-2 in a high scoring match. Rakesh Gurung netted twice for Sangam while Raj Kumar Pariyar, Prabin Rana and Roshan Gurung netted one apiece. Niraj Thapa and Subin Pun scored one each for Sauvagya.



The result left Sauvagya at the bottom of the table with no points while Bijay Sports Club of Kailali finished fourth with three points.



In group A matches being held at Domalal Stadium, Jhapa Mitramilan Club of Sunsari climbed atop the with a 1-0 win over Diamond Youth Club of Parsa.



With the win, Mitramilan garnered seven points from three matches played pushing behind Sainik Youth Club of Jhapa with six points to second position. Ashis Rai scored the lone goal for Mitramilan in the 73rd minute.



Similarly, Chartare Club of Morang, eased past NFC of Chitwan 3-0. Paras Limbu, Bhusan Limbu and Binod Rai netted one apiece for Chartare.



The win lifted Chartare a spot above to third with four points from three matches played while NFC hit the bottom of the table with one point.
