In a widely-criticized decision, the government had withdrawn 349 criminal cases nearly two months ago, dubbing them political in nature. The National Human Rights Commission and the UN Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights had separately expressed their concern at the withdrawal decision.
The fresh decision was taken on Wednesday against the backdrop of such criticism, according to sources at the Attorney General´s Office and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
Of the 349 cases, 104 were related to robbery and 99 involved murder.
When asked why the government has revoked only these two cases, the source said that the original decision had already been implemented in the other cases.
"Had the earlier decision not already been implemented the withdrawal of the other cases would also have been revoked," the source told myrepublica.com on condition of anonymity.
