“Its first time that an individual has come forward to support Nepali Cricket. I am really thankful and expect that he would continue to support the game in Nepal,” said CAN President Binay Raj Pandey. Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali praised Bhatia for his support, “It is appreciable that Bhatia has extended his support to Nepali cricket despite being a non-Nepali.” He further said it was unfortunate that National Sports Council was being padlocked without any valid reason. “We must learn a lesson and extend all possible support to promote the game in the country,” he added.
After the function, Bhatia talked to myrepublica.com about his interest in Nepali cricket.
Here are the excepts:

Myrepublica.com: Why are you supporting Nepali cricket instead of supporting the game in your own country?
Bhatia: It´s not only the Nepali cricket that I am supporting. I am also supporting Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Africa and India. I am interested in promoting and supporting cricket everywhere in the world. I am a great fan of cricket and I strongly believe cricket can teach a lot. It teaches you one of the most important aspects of life -- discipline.
Myrepublica.com: Is there any special reason for you to be interested in Nepali cricket?
Bhatia: Not really, I am just supporting Nepal because I have heard a lot about Nepali cricket and its success stories. Moreover, I have a special bond with Nepalis for as many as 200 Nepalis work with my company.
Myrepublica.com: Your future plan in Nepal?
Bhatia: I have heard that Nepal is building an international standard stadium. I would like to chip in for this cause. I will continue to support Nepali Cricket whenever and whatever ways I can. I have very good relations with International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) presidents and chief executive officials. I will try my level best to support Nepal.
