JHAPA, Dec 2: A forest guard working in a community forest in Jhapa district died on Friday when a wild elephant trampled him.
Dhan Bahadur Ban, 40, was crushed by the elephant this morning, informed Khagendra Rijal, Information officer at the District Police Office, Jhapa.
Ban was alone at the community forest situated at Haldibari rural municipality-3 in Jhapa when the incident took place, added Information Officer Rijal.

The wild beast mauled the forest guard who died on the spot, he said. A team of police and Forest Office's officials reached the incident site to learn about the incident.
Further investigation into the case was underway. Earlier a week ago, a 72-year-old man had succumbed to the mammoth attack at a Bhutanese refugee camp at Beldangi in the district.
Meanwhile, a man died when a motorcycle hit him at Shivasatashi municipality-10 in the district.
The man whose identity has not been ascertained yet was hit by the motorcycle (with registration no State1-01-016 Pa4390) heading towards west from east on the East-West Highway on Thursday night.
Injured in the road mishap, he was rushed to a Hospital at Birtamode where he died in course of treatment, police said.
Motorcyclist Sagar Tamang, 20, of Kamal rural municipality-1 has sustained injuries in the incident, according to Jhiljhile Area Police Office, Jhapa.
Further investigation is underway by arresting the motorcyclist.
