KATHMANDU, July 9: The immigration office at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has returned back 15 Nepali workers who were aspiring to go abroad for foreign employment. According to the Department of Immigration, 15 Nepali workers including 13 women and 2 men who were going to Jordan were stopped by the TIA immigration office on Sunday morning as they did not have any visas.

They were scheduled to fly to Jordan at 10:30 AM by Air Arabia aircraft.

Ram Bandhu Subedi, the Chief Immigration Officer of the TIA immigration office mentioned that they had to be sent back as the immigration officials did not find visas with them.

“They were going to work in a factory in Jordan. They had a work permit,” he said, “Those going abroad should have an online or printed visa. However, they did not have either of them.”

Subedi  said that they only have the letter written by the Ministry of Interior of Jordan.

According to him, they did not have any documents other than the letter written to the agency from Jordan.

“They were returned because they did not have visas. No action was taken,” said Subedi.

Subedi clarified that the immigration office is ready to let them fly if they come up with visas.
