KATHMANDU, Feb 2: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Thursday claimed that his government had made ‘India-locked Nepal’ a land-locked country.
“While Nepal was being locked by a certain country, it became a land-locked country during my premiership,” he said, adding, “Now Nepal has entered into a historic stage with the access to Bangla Port and China - not only to India.
During his premiership, Oli had reached a trade and transit treaty with China, thereby frustrating the Indian market monopoly in Nepal.
On a different note, Oli said that the land developers have destroyed the fertile agriculture land, ridiculing them that they have destroyed the farming land in the name of developing land.
Addressing the South Asia Level Conference organized by All Nepal Kishan Mahasangh in the Capital on Thursday, Oli recalled that he had taken the helm at a time when the country was undergoing a critical phase.
Meanwhile, he stressed the industrial and technological development to uplift the country economically, saying that over 67 percent of the Nepali people depend on agriculture.
