DARCHULA, June 26: Manorath Bhatta, the ward chairperson of Duhu Rural Municipality-5 of Darchula, has passed away. He died on the way while he was being taken to Dhangadhi for treatment.
On Sunday, Bhatta was admitted to the district hospital for treatment due to health problems. District Hospital Information Officer Rajesh Bhatt said that he was sent to Dhangadhi today for further treatment as it was not possible at the District Hospital.

According to District Police Office Information Officer and Police Inspector Gyanendra Bahadur Singh, Bhatta died in Gwani of Shailya Shikhar Municipality-6 while being taken to Dhangadhi. Bhatta's body has been kept at the district hospital. It is said that he will be cremated today after an autopsy. Bhatta was elected as the ward chairperson in the local elections held on 13th May 2022.
