Birendranagar, Nov 20: Voting at a polling station in Surkhet has been postponed due to a dispute over the ballot papers. The Election Commission has announced that voting has been suspended for the time being.
Voting was postponed due to a controversy after ballot papers of the House of Representatives were found in the ballot boxes meant for the Provincial Assembly at a polling station in Simta Multipurpose Campus. The controversy erupted after 100 votes for the House of Representatives fell on the ballot boxes of the Provincial Assembly.
Madhav Prasad Shrestha, spokesperson of Surkhet-based Karnali Province Police Office, said that the Election Commission postponed the election after the dispute was not resolved by the time the election was over.
