BARA, May 13: Voting at two polling stations in Pacharauta Municipality has been suspended. The polling was stopped due to the protest of the locals after it was found that more votes were cast than the number of total registered voters at Srinagar Bairiya polling station and Bargachhi polling station of Pacharauta-2.
Bara Chief District Officer (CDO) Krishna Bahadur Katuwal who reached Srinagar Bariya of Pacharauta-2 along with the chief election officer had left after directing the election officers to work as per the law. CDO Katuwal said that details of the number of votes cast at both the polling stations and the total number of eligible voters have been requested. He said that a decision on holding the polls again or to continue the suspended polls will be made after receiving the information.

Leading candidates have complained that the polling was halted after more votes were cast. Mani Bhusan Yadav, a candidate from the Nepali Congress has demanded that some voters cast their votes again as the votes were cast in the name of people who didn't attend the polls.
