KATHMANDU, May 22: The counting of votes of the local elections has concluded in 703 out of the 753 local bodies so far. According to the Election Commission (EC), vote counting has concluded in 252 municipalities and 450 rural municipalities. Out of the total 753 local units in the country, vote counting has concluded at 93.94 percent.
The Nepali Congress (NC) is leading as per the results of the vote counting, followed by the CPN-UML, and CPN (Maoist Center), respectively. The vote counting is currently underway in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bharatpur, Pokhara, and Birgunj metropolises including some municipalities.
The EC has yet to decide whether to recount the votes or re-hold the election due to disputes in Budhi Ganga Municipality of Bajura and Triyuga Municipality-12 of Udayapur.
