KATHMANDU, May 22:The counting of votes of the local elections has concluded in 703 out of the 753 local bodies so far. According to the Election Commission (EC), vote counting has concluded in 252 municipalities and 450 rural municipalities. Out of the total 753 local units in the country, vote counting has concluded at 93.94 percent.

BIRGUNJ, MAY 18: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)’s mayoral candidate Rajeshman Singh and Nepali Congress (NC)’s deputy mayoral candidate Imtiaz Aalam are leading the vote-counting in Birgunj Metropolitan City.

KATHMANDU, May 17: CPN (Unified Socialist) candidate Dhanraj Acharya is leading the mayoral race in Pokhara Metropolitan City. So far, Acharya has received 9,395 votes while his closest rival Krishna Bahadur Thapa from the CPN-UML has received 8,040 votes.

GORKHA, May 16: The Nepali Congress (NC) has emerged victorious in Arughat Rural Municipality of Gorkha. NC candidates for Chairman and Vice Chairperson Raju Gurung and Kalpana Nepali received 5,556 votes and 5,361 votes, respectively.

KATHMANDU, May 15: The Election Commission (EC) has urged the bodies concerned not to blow a minor human error during the counting of votes out of proportion as an issue of dispute.

KAILALI, May 15: The counting of votes has concluded in five of the 88 local bodies of Sudurpaschim Province so far. Of the five local bodies, Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML emerged victorious in two local units each, while the CPN (Maoist Center) won in one local unit.

POKHARA, May 15: With the vote counting currently underway across the country, Kaski is expected to have mixed results. In one of the five municipalities of Kaski, the coalition of CPN (Unified Socialist) has taken the lead in Pokhara Metropolitan City, while the Nepali Congress (NC) candidates are leading in Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality, Annapurna Rural Municipality and Madi Rural Municipality.

Independent candidate Nirmal Tandukar has been elected the chair of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward No. 1.

MANANG, May 14: Dhan Bahadur Gurung of the Nepali Congress has been elected to the post of Chairman of Naso Rural Municipality in Manang district. He gathered 820 votes while his nearest rival Man Bahadur Gurung of the CPN-UML secured 676 votes.
