KATHMANDU, July 4: The CPN-UML has formed a team under the coordination of Vice Chairperson Bishnu Prasad Poudel to conduct a probe into the leaders and cadres who were involved in defeating their own party candidates in the May 13 local level election. The probe team will also recommend the leadership for appropriate actions against such cadres and leaders.

MAHENDRANAGAR, May 22: The CPN-UML has won the mayoral seat in Shuklaphanta Municipality in Kanchanpur district. UML's Rana Bahadur Mahara has been elected to the post with 6,773 votes while his closest rival Chinta Mani Bhatta from the Nepali Congress got 6,264 votes.

KATHMANDU, May 22:The counting of votes of the local elections has concluded in 703 out of the 753 local bodies so far. According to the Election Commission (EC), vote counting has concluded in 252 municipalities and 450 rural municipalities. Out of the total 753 local units in the country, vote counting has concluded at 93.94 percent.

Talking to media persons at the Biratnagar Airport, he said 50 percent results would come out by May 17 and full results are expected by May 19.
