Engineer Ram Gopal Gadtaula, 53, of of Tahrathum, who was riding a motorbike with registration number Ko 5 Pa 1584 and his pillion rider Shanker Dahal, secretary of Dulari VDC, died after the motorcycle collided with a truck and an ambulance.
Nine people, including the drivers of the ambulance and the truck have been injured and are receiving treatment at B P Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
Civil servants have closed local bodies in Morang on Tuesday to mourn the deaths.
