Vaidya, too, announces his panel

KATHMANDU, March 14: Suraj Vaidya, senior vice president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), announced his candidacy for the top post of apex business body on Monday. Vaidya also made public his panel for the upcoming election scheduled for April 13.



Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, vice president of FNCCI, and announced Vaidya as the presidential candidate. Vaidya then declared Rajkarnikar as his candidate for the post of senior vice president. [break]



He also named Bhawani Rana as candidate for vice president from district chambers, Kiran Saakha as vice president from commodity associations and Pashupati Murarka as vice president from associate members.



“We have come together as a group, as the FNCCI is in need of a dynamic leadership during these challenging and uncertain times,” stated Vaidya.



“All the candidates are capable, honest and committed business leaders and represent a young and active leadership for FNCCI.”



Vaidya said his vision as the new leader of FNCCI was to make the federation more inclusive in terms of gender, ethnicity, region and business of all levels.



“Announcement of Rana as candidate for Vice President from district chambers is our step to create a history in FNCCI by electing a woman in the post,” said Vaidya.



Vaidya also presented six-point agendas that he would execute if he is elected to the post. The agendas include grooming genuine leadership in FNCCI, joining hands with the government to make budget more development oriented and further advancement of industrial sector. Vaidya also promised creation of investment friendly and good industrial relations during his tenure.

Election fever has gripped the private sector as the annual general meeting of the FNCCI nears. On Sunday, Azad Shrestha, former vice president of FNCCI, had announced his candidacy and unveiled his panel amid a similar function in the capital.
