KATHMANDU, Dec 20: The government is going to start a TCV vaccination campaign against measles-rubella and typhoid in earthquake-affected Jajarkot and Rukum West.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) will conduct a vaccination campaign in seven districts affected by the earthquake from Thursday.
Anti-typhoid vaccination campaign beginning in Madhesh Province
In earthquake-affected Jajarkot and Rukum West, all children between the ages of six months and 15 years will be given Measles-Rubella vaccine and all people between the ages of 16 and 45 years will be given TCV vaccine against typhoid, the ministry said.
Similarly, TCV vaccination against typhoid disease will be given in Surkhet, Jumla, Kalikot, Dailekh and Salyan.
Since the measles-rubella vaccine given in the vaccination campaign has an extra dose, the ministry has also requested that one dose should be given compulsorily in this campaign, regardless of the number of times it has been administered before.
The MoHP has asked to contact the nearest women's community health volunteers, health institutions or schools to know the location and date of the vaccination campaign.
In addition, the government has also asked children between the ages of nine months and five years who have missed regular vaccinations to come with their regular vaccination cards as they will receive discounted vaccinations during this campaign.
