RUKUM, Feb 7: Despite running vaccination campaigns against COVID-19 in the district of Rukum (East), the people of the target population have not visited the vaccination centers as expected.
Information Officer at the Health Office in the district, Nim Prasad Giri said though they had a sufficient stock of vaccines against COVID-19, they were having difficulties because of the absence of the target population.
The target population for COVID-19 vaccines in the district is 45,369 but so far 33,551 (73%) have received the first dose while 29,501 (65.02%) have received the second dose.
Injunction continues as tension flares up in Rukum East
In Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality, only 8,130 persons received both shots against COVID-19 against the target population of 15,487, said Giri, who is also the COVID Focal Person.
Likewise, a total of 10,430 people got the vaccine out of 18,813 target population in Bhume Rural Municipality.
In Sisne Rural Municipality, 10,982 persons received a second dose of COVID vaccine out of the target population of 14,068, the Health Office said.
Currently, the Office is running the vaccination drive to provide the first, second, and booster doses in Sisne and Bhume. However, the vaccination drive has not advanced in Putha Uttarganga as people did not turn up at the vaccination center.
