The US defeated Jersey by 66 runs at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. Likewise, Singapore beat Fiji by two runs at the Pulchowk Ground. [break]
The US, winning the toss, elected to bat and put up 253 runs in 50 overs losing six wickets. However, they started horrible. As Matt Hague and Ryan Driver shared four wickets to leave the US at 30-4 in 12.1 overs.
However, Carl Wright and Aditya Thyagarajan stood for a 118-run sixth wicket partnership. Wright scored 76 runs before he was trapped lbw by Ben Stevens. Thyagarajan again paired up with Rashard Marshall for an 80-run seventh wicket partnership. Ryan took three wickets.
In reply, Jersey lost wickets in regular intervals and were limited to 187-9 in 50 overs. Dean Morrison and Samuel de la Haye scored 36 runs each for Jersey.
Andy Dewhurst contributed 34 runs while Ryan Driver (29) and Peter Gough (24) were the other batsmen to score in double digits. Lennox Cush took four wickets while Saurabh Verma claimed 3 wickets.
At the Pulchowk Ground, Fiji won the toss and elected to bat. However, Fiji lost wickets in regular intervals and were packed up for 194 runs in 48.5 overs.
Josefa Rika (32 runs), Sekove Ravoka (30), Jone Sorovakatini (28) and Iniasi Cakacaka (26) were the top contributors for Fiji. Pramodh Raja took 4 wickets while Mulewa Dharmichand, Anish Param and Riaz Hussien claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Monish Arora single-handedly took Singapore to victory. Though Singapore lost wickets time and again, Arora remained not out on 94 runs and sealed victory for Singapore in 47.4 overs with two wickets in hand.
Chetan Suryawanshi (19 runs) was the second highest contributor for Singapore. Sakaraia Lomani took 3 wickets for Fiji.
