Dissatisfied with Gautam´s clarifications submitted separately on Tuesday and Thursday, the party´s disciplinary body demanded further self-criticism by the UML leader.
"The commission has decided to criticize him seriously and direct him to furnish clarifications within seven days, clearly reflecting self-criticism. If his clarifications are found unconvincing this time also, the commission will be compelled to opt for a process of serious action against him," said a statement issued by the disciplinary commission on Friday.
The commission has said that instead of undertaking open self-criticism for his mistakes, Gautam in his clarifications gave a lengthy political and ideological explanation. "Therefore the commission is not satisfied with his arguments," it said.
The ruling party sought clarifications from Gautam after he emailed a memorandum to party Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal 12 days ago. The memorandum bearing the names of other 59 UML parliamentarians but without any signature, demanded that Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal step down to pave the way for the formation of a Maoist-headed national unity government.
