UML’s Karnali Province chief Binod Kumar Shah said that it has been decided to select one representative out of every 100 party members for general members in the open category and one representative out of every 75 members for Dalit party members.
According to Shah, the meeting has set the criteria that one-third of the selected representatives should be women. It has been arranged that one more representative will be added to the remaining 50 percent of the number of members (resulting in two representatives if there are 150 members).
Similarly, geography will be the basis of selection and management of representatives while provincial electoral constituencies will be the basis to ensure inclusion. Inclusive members will have the right to select the provincial electoral constituencies.
With over 51,000 organized party members in the province, approximately 650 representatives will be chosen for the Karnali Provincial Convention of the UML.
