DANG, May 25: CPN-UML candidates Tikaram Khadka and Syani Chaudhary have been elected as the mayor and deputy mayor of Tulsipur Sub-metropolis, respectively, of Dang. Khadka won against his closest rival from the ruling coalition Gehendra Giri of Nepali Congress (NC) with 39,408 votes while Giri had received 27,717 votes.
Similarly, Chaudhary received a total of 30,597 votes against a rival candidate from the coalition Jog Bahadur Rana of CPN (Unified Socialist), who received 21,065 votes.
UML had also won in the Tulsipur sub-metropolis in the previous election. Out of 101,460 registered voters in the sub-metropolis, 74,336 people casted their votes in the local elections held in May 13.
