UML 11th General Convention: Tight contest for secretary posts, Mahesh Basnet in the lead

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: A fierce contest is underway among 20 candidates vying for the post of secretary at the 11th National General Convention of the CPN-UML. Candidates from the panel led by incumbent Chair KP Sharma Oli, who is contesting for the party chair, are currently in the lead.



According to the latest vote count, Padma Kumari Aryal has secured 778 votes, while Mahesh Basnet is leading with 783 votes. Chhabilal Bishwakarma has received 769 votes, and Sherdhan Rai has garnered 767 votes. From the panel led by Ishwar Pokharel, a rival candidate for the party chair, Gokul Prasad Baskota has secured 528 votes, remaining in contention.


Meanwhile, Agni Prasad Kharel, contesting independently for the secretary post, has received 377 votes.
