KATHMANDU, July 17: The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nepal, Abdulla Al Shamsi, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka at his office in Singha Durbar on Monday.
During their meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Khadka acknowledged the strong and friendly relationship between Nepal and the United Arab Emirates. He emphasized that both countries, as members of the United Nations and proponents of non-aligned foreign policies, share common perspectives on global issues.
Furthermore, Khadka extended congratulations to the UAE for its remarkable progress and prosperity in sectors such as health, education, space technology, energy, artificial intelligence, innovation, and more. He also conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP-28) in Dubai, scheduled from November 30 to December 12, 2023.

Deputy Prime Minister Khadka also expressed optimism for the success of the 2023 Dubai Air Show, which will take place from November 13 to 17, 2023. He highlighted the potential for collaboration between Nepal and the UAE in areas such as tourism, renewable energy, and human resource development.
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Khadka expressed gratitude to the UAE for providing numerous employment opportunities to Nepali migrant workers.
During the event, Ambassador Shamsi presented Deputy Prime Minister Khadka with an invitation letter from Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid AI Maktoum, inviting his participation in the 2023 Dubai Air Show. He emphasized the strong bilateral ties between the two countries and stressed the need for expeditious completion of necessary agreements to facilitate the UAE entrepreneurs' investments in Nepal.
The envoy also highlighted the positive relationship between the armed forces of both the nations and expressed the potential for cooperation in training and capacity development.
Officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were present on this occasion.
