Two ward members arrested on charge of seeking Rs 150,000 bribe from Users’ Committee

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: Two ward members have been arrested red-handed on Monday for seeking Rs 150,000 in bribe from the Users’ Committee.

KATHMANDU, Nov 15: Two ward members have been arrested red-handed on Monday for seeking Rs 150,000 in bribe from the Users’ Committee.


Spokesperson at the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)  Narayan Prasad Risal, two ward members Sonelal Shah and Umesh Roy of Sarlahi's Ishwarpur Municipality-11 are arrested after they were found seeking the bribe amount.


Ward members Shah and Roy had asked for Rs 150,000 with the Users’ Committee for recommending that a construction work under a grant of the municipality was completed. The Users’ Committee had received a grant from the municipality for slope work to the Consumer Committee. A team from the CIAA’s Office in Bardibas had arrested them on the basis of information they received from locals.

They ward members duo were arrested with cash from Krishna Enterprises at Lalbandi Municipality-7 of Sarlahi, the CIAA said in a statement.
