“A helicopter is also being used to spray water on the site of the raging fire but it is still out of control,” DSP Khadka said. “The smoke billowing from the fire is also making it difficult to control it,” he added.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Kasiram Gaire of Tanahun, the fire started from a hardware store belonging to Bhupal Ale before spreading to the nearby shops as well.
“The reason behind the fire is still unknown but property worth millions of rupees has been gutted. Efforts are being made to demolish a few houses near the incident site to stop the fire from spreading. Two fire trucks were sent from Pokhara to control it,” Gaire said
The fire trucks from Pokhara have a capacity to carry 6,000 liters of water each. Similarly, a few water tankers that were being used in the construction of the Pokhara-Mugling road section have also reached the site of the incident to assist in controlling the fire.
