Gagan Thapa set to be elected NC president unopposed

Gagan Kumar Thapa is set to be elected president of the Nepali Congress (NC) unopposed after Kishor Singh Rathore and Shyam Krishna Khadgi withdrew their candidacies on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Gagan Kumar Thapa is set to be elected president of the Nepali Congress (NC) unopposed after Kishor Singh Rathore and Shyam Krishna Khadgi withdrew their candidacies on Wednesday.



Thapa, Rathore and Khadgi had registered their candidacies for the party presidency on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Pushpa Bhusal (Gautam) are the sole candidates for senior vice president and women vice president, respectively. Eleven candidates are contesting for three general secretary posts.


The main opposition party in the Federal Parliament, the NC is holding its 15th General Convention in Kathmandu.
