Two arrested with brown sugar from Jumanaha checkpoint

BANKE, May 29: Police have arrested two individuals with a substance resembling brown sugar from the Jumanaha checkpoint in Nepalgunj.



During a routine inspection, 37-year-old Thakur Prasad Khatri of Kohalpur-10 and 22-year-old Amrit Chand of Kohalpur-2 were arrested.

According to Deepak Patali, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Banke, 910 milligrams of the drug-like substance was found in possession of Khatri, while 2.68 grams was recovered from Chand. The duo, along with their scooter, has been taken into custody.


Police said investigations are underway under the Narcotics Control Act. Surveillance in border areas has been intensified due to the growing risk of drug trafficking, they added.
