Two arrested with 158 kg of hashish

KATHMANDU, June 13: Police on Wednesday nabbed two persons and seized 158 kg of hashish from them from Jhyaplekhola of Badbhanjyang VDC-5 in Kathmandu District. In the international market, the price the seized hashish is around Rs 79 million, police said.[break]



Following a tip-off, a team of Narcotic Drugs Control Bureau, New Baneshwar arrested truck driver Ram Kumar Thapa, 25 and Raj Kumar Giri, 35 of Manahari-7, Makawanpur district. According to SSP Rana Bahadur Chand, the deputy chief of the bureau, the two were arrested while trying to smuggle the hashish out of Kathmandu Valley using a truck with fake number plate.



According to SSP Chand they had wrapped the hashish with duct tape in 75 balls and hid them in the truck. The smugglers used a fake number plate Na 2 Kha 8029 but later it was revealed that the real number of the truck was Na 3 Kha 8336.



The two have however said they did not have any information that the hashish had been hidden in the truck.
