Two Nepalis arrested with 21 kg hashish in Japan

TOKYO, Feb 23: Two Nepalis have been arrested in Japan with 21 kg of hashish (charas). Police have made them public today. They had been arrested in December.

TOKYO, Feb 23: Two Nepalis have been arrested in Japan with 21 kg of hashish. They were arrested by the Japanese police in December and made public on Thursday.


According to the Japanese media ANN, the arrested are Tapan Tamang, 29, a student at a vocational institute in Japan; and Dangoldevi, 27, a part time worker at a restaurant.

Nearly after a two-month-long investigation, Japanese police concluded that they were involved in drug smuggling.

Japanese police said that they found 18 kg and 600g of hashish from the rooms of the accused.


The seized hashish is estimated to fetch Japanese yen 150 million in the black market.
