KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Two people have been arrested in Chitwan for possessing the remains of a snow leopard, a protected species.

The arrests took place on Tuesday after Chitwan National Park authorities received a tip-off. The suspects were apprehended in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-10 and are currently in custody for investigation.
They will face charges under the Wildlife Conservation Act, 1973, which carries strict penalties for crimes involving protected wildlife. Snow leopards are critically endangered, and their poaching presents a significant threat to Nepal’s biodiversity.
