BAGMATI, Oct 4: Traffic has been operating since this morning on the Hetauda-Chitlang-Chandragiri-Kathmandu section of the Tribhuvan Rajpath road.
After the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued a warning for heavy rainfall, local authorities had halted all vehicle operations on these roads until this morning.
New air-entry routes: India’s harmful dilly-dallying
According to Thakur Prasad Sapkota, the acting spokesperson for the Makwanpur District Police Office, traffic resumed this morning as there are no obstructions on the road. Light vehicles are operating on the Hetauda-Palung-Naubise road section.
Chief District Officer Tirtha Raj Chiluwal stated that a technical team from the Department of Roads, security personnel, and the Physical Infrastructure Development Ministry of Bagmati Province is working to restore all roads blocked by landslides and flooding.
Work is underway to clear a large landslide, including big boulders, at Golpingbesi on the Hetauda-Bhainse-Ratomate section of the road connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu, using four machines.
The Department of Roads and security personnel have cleared the landslide from Deurali in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-6 to Sinkhole in Indra Sarovar Rural Municipality-2. They also reported that construction is underway for the Kulekhani bridge washed away by floods in Indra Sarovar Rural Municipality-2. Additionally, two machines are being used to remove landslides in several areas along the South Kalai-Pharping road, from Mahalaxmi Khola to Fakel and from Fakel to Pharping.
