Bikas Gurung, 11, of Bhanu-1, Khahare, died when a bus (Na 3 Pa 5330) hit Gurung at Khahare of Bhanu VDC along the Dumre Besisahar road section, around 4:45 pm on Thursday. [break]
Locals obstructed the traffic demanding compensation to the victim’s family and action against the guilty, saying the bus driver killed the injured child by knocking him down and trampling the victim by driving backwards.
Irate locals had obstructed the traffic on Thursday evening but police had brought the traffic into operation the same night by using force. Police fired three rounds of tear gas.
Locals and family of the child refused to receive the body. Police have arrested the bus driver Bhim Bahadur Thapa of Simpani-7 of Lamjung district and have also impounded the bus.
A discussion to resume the traffic is going on among victim’s families, police administration and locals.
Passengers and vehicles have been stranded at the road section from this morning following the obstruction.
