TMDP-N leaders quit party en masse

JANAKPUR, June 9: District leaders of Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party-Nepal (TMDP-N) from Dhanusha district have announced to quit the party. Speaking at a press meet, 24 leaders including the party´s Dhanusha district coordinator Shatrudhan Yadav have collectively resigned from the party. Leaders have accused the party leadership of not addressing Madheshi issues and remaining indifferent toward the grievances of the party members in the district.



However, they have not revealed that which party they are going to join. Sources have claimed that they are likely to join Upendra Yadav-led Madheshi People´s Right Forum, Nepal. Satrudhan Yadav said that they have been approached by several Madhes-based parties but they have yet to decide which party to join. [break]



Among the party´s 34 district executive members in Dhanusha, 25 leaders including the district president Devendra Yadav had already defected to Bijay Gachchhadar-led MPRF (Democratic). The leaders left the party expressing dissatisfaction with the party leadership.



Around two and a half years ago, Mahendra Ray Yadav had quit the TMDP to form his own TMDP-Nepal. At that time Yadav formed the party with nine lawmakers but five of them have already quit the party. Govinda Chaudhary, Chandan Sah, Arbind Sah, Urmila Mahato and Ramani Ram had already defected to Gachchhadar-led Forum. TMDP, Nepal has now been limited to four ex-lawmakers. Sources claimed that the relations among the key leaders is souring in the recent days.
